Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran hakikat sains atau Nature of Science (NOS) dalam pengembangan literasi sains berdasarkan kajian literatur komprehensif. NOS dipahami sebagai konsep yang menjelaskan sains sebagai cara untuk memperoleh pengetahuan, mencakup nilai-nilai dan asumsi yang melekat dalam pengembangan pengetahuan ilmiah. Melalui metode penelitian kepustakaan, artikel ini mengkaji secara sistematis berbagai sumber primer dan sekunder dari jurnal ilmiah bereputasi, buku referensi, dan dokumen kebijakan pendidikan yang diterbitkan dalam kurun waktu sepuluh tahun terakhir. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman NOS berperan signifikan dalam tiga dimensi pengembangan literasi sains: (1) membangun fondasi epistemologi sains yang kuat pada peserta didik, (2) mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan reflektif dalam menganalisis klaim ilmiah, dan (3) memfasilitasi pemahaman interdisipliner dan kontekstual dalam pembelajaran sains. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa integrasi NOS dalam pembelajaran sains secara eksplisit dan reflektif dapat meningkatkan kualitas literasi sains peserta didik, khususnya dalam kemampuan mengevaluasi validitas informasi ilmiah dan mengambil keputusan berbasis sains dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan perlunya pengembangan kurikulum dan model pembelajaran yang memadukan aspek-aspek NOS secara sistematis untuk memfasilitasi peserta didik memahami tidak hanya konten sains tetapi juga bagaimana pengetahuan ilmiah dikonstruksi dan divalidasi.
